A Ministry Update from Frank Bonser, Life Groups Pastor

A Ministry Update from Frank Bonser, Life Groups Pastor

Dear Friends,

We are overjoyed by the response of God’s people to the new Life Groups in our community. Many of our congregation not only want to participate in these groups but wish to invite their families, friends, and neighbors to join. To date, we have placed over 300 people in Life Groups to begin Doing Life Together on Mission with God.

The scale of Life Groups is expanding. Groups are forming as far south as Creswell, north to Harrisburg, east to Walterville and west to Veneta. Many groups are also coming together right here in the neighborhoods of Eugene and Springfield. Groups are beginning to meet on different days and almost every evening of the week. Several groups have chosen to meet on Sundays as a way to continue their day of worship together. Host homes have surfaced to fill almost every meeting need. We have one group meeting in a community center, and we’ve just received a hosting invitation from a local extended care facility saying, “No charge, come anytime, we will have the coffee ready for you. By the way, we have some folks that would like to join you.”

Life Groups are not only becoming our connection to each other, but they are becoming the missional connection to our community. This is seen by our guests and new-comers who are seeking Life Groups, by our additional family members who are requesting to join a Life Group, as well as by our many friends and neighbors who have heard or responded to our invitations to join us in a Life Group. Each is seeking to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus and with each other—what a Blessing!

Along with the great joy and blessings, comes a Great Need—A call to Action!

For every one person we have placed in a Life Group; we have another person that is waiting to be placed. If you are currently waiting to receive an invitation from one of our Life Group Leaders, thank you for your patience. We may be out of room in our start-up Life Groups, but don’t lose heart. We know that NO challenge is too great for God.

If this Great Need has stirred your heart to ask, “How can I help?” then, leading or hosting a Life Group may interest you. If so, please join us on Sunday, November 8, 2009, from 11:30am-12:30pm in Room 103. Corey Rose and I will share with you the vision, scope, and heartbeat of this exciting and life-transforming ministry. You will see how your role may be used to help others learn to Live, Love and Lead like Jesus. If possible, please RSVP your attendance at the November 8th meeting by sending an email to frankbatfbceugene [dot] com

We are planning to start more groups and want to make sure you are on our list. Please let us know of your interest in one of the following ways: 1) Stop at the Information Center on Sunday to fill out a registration form. 2) Write your name and request on a Sunday Worship Service comment card. 3) Call the church office (541-345-0341) and/or e-mail Frank Bonser (frankbatfbceugene [dot] com).

This is an exciting time in the life of First Baptist Church of Eugene. We ask that you be in prayer for the new Life Groups Ministry and how God may be asking you to use the gifts and resources with which He has blessed you.
